It was so great to be back in school today and to see all the children and hear about their week away! The KIndergarteners were also very excited to see each other and we spent extra time this morning hearing about each other's vacations and time spent away from school.
The children wrote about their experiences in their journal this morning and each chiild wrote at least 2 sentences. They also checked their work to make sure every word written had a vowel. Wow! They did some fabulous work!
During math stations today, we came back to our concept of "part, part, whole" and the children wrote all different types of number stories. At the game station, the Kindergarteners also played "Top It Addition" and used ten frames to help represent their equation.
We ended the day by talking about the word "respect" during Open Circle. We defined "respect" as thinking and being open to other's opinions and ideas. We role played some situations where it is important to show respect even if you have a differing opionion. Ask your child to share with you what he/she remembers from our discussion today.
