We started our morning with a bus evacuation drill today. During this time, the Kindergarteners were taught about the importance of staying safe on the bus and also how to evacuate in the case of an emergency. The children had fun practicing how to slide out of the back of the bus (with our help)! After our drill , we continued our morning meeting where several children chose to share. Some told stories, some shared books that they had written, while others shared a craft that they had made. The other students used this opportunity to ask questions or to give compliments to their friends. During Open Circle today, we talked about the importance of Positive Self Talk- ask you child if he/she can give an example of positive self -talk. During math we went to the computer lab to use Symphony Math. I first modeled some sample questions and we worked as class to answer the questions that were asked. This seemed to give the Kindergarteners the confidence to work more independently. We finished our day with a fall walk and came inside to read Leaf Man by Lois Elhert. On Monday, we will start our day by making scenes using our leaf collections. Have a great weekend!
