Today we had school meeting where the Loker school mascot was revealed! It is a lion who came to school meeting! The children did notice that the lion was the same height as Mr. Jones and Mr. Jones seemed to be no where in sight when the mascot appeared. It was an interesting conversation...
Ms. Pirelli also joined us today and we acted out some scenes to illustrate matching the size of your reaction to the size of the problem. We talked about the fact that when you match your reaction to the size of the problem, others have good thoughts about you.
We continued our math stations today, continuing to focus on accurate counting. By doing a grab of unifix cubes and tiles, we used the ten- frame to help us put our items in an orderly way.
We finished our day with science. We walked around the school yard and looked for leaves. As we looked at a tree, the children were asked to pick up the leaf that was from that tree. Despite the rain, the children collected 6 leaves and were asked to try and make them all from different trees! When we came back in the classroom, the Kindergarten scientists were asked to sort the leaves and record in their journals.
