It was great to see all the Kindergarteners back in school today! Many had a lot to share and we did a "think, pair, share" as part of our morning meeting. They then had a chance to write and draw about their share in their journals. I modeled how to draw a person running and the children are getting better and better at making themselves (and other people who they write about) look more realistic with the correct color for hair, body and clothes.
Ms. Pirelli also joined us today and read the book What is a Thought? (A Thought is a Lot), by Jack Pransky and Amy Kahofer and talked about the power of our thoughts. The Kindergarteners shared that thoughts "are like dream" and everyone has a thought. Ms. Pirelli also used the word "filter" to describe the way we have to filter what is in our thought bubble when putting those thoughts into our speech bubble.
During Learning Centers today, the Kindergartners had the opportunity to use the easel with water colors. We reviewed how to properly use water colors and many chose to go to the center. During this time, some also used play do, built with legos, or read some of our Mr. and Mrs. Books.
We had an apple investigation time this afternoon! The Kindergarteners had the chance to be scientists and were asked to draw, observe, and make predictions about their apple. They even had the chance to see the star inside the apple! Ask your child about his/her observations.
