Ms. Pirelli, the school psychologist/guidance counselor, joined our class this morning and read the book Listening With Your Eyes. This book told the story of an alien who was unable to speak English, but with his/her eyes, the people around him/her could tell what he/she was thinking. Ms. Pirelli told us that our "eyes are like arrows" and if we follow someone's eyes, we can tell what they are thinking about. We then played a game where a child looked at something in the classroom and we had to guess what was in that person's thought bubble.
We also learned a new sight word today- ME- as part of our new poem about October. The poem tells us how to spell October and the children had the opportunity to trace the numbers in an October calendar.
After a busy learning centers, we had Math Choice today. Math Choice is a time where children can make independent choices based which are all curriculum based. Today, they could work in their "Math Folders" on a worksheet which reviewed accurate counting, they could roll a dice and use dobbers to represent their roll, they could build with straws, play Roll and Record or Memory Football. Ask your child what he/she chose to do during this time.
We are looking forward to our Pajama/Extra Recess/ Game Day tomorrow (see the note in your child's folder...) We are so proud of Room 1 For filling our first bucket!!
