This morning Ms. Pirelli joined our class and we talked about "pumpkin emotions". We looked at different pumpkins and had to guess how they were feeling based on their faces. This was a good introduction to a further discussion about feelings and how to manage our different emotions.
After reading Mr. Chatterbox and having lots of laughs, we reviewed our sounds and letter formations for the letters "e" and "r". Before working independently, we spoke about the importance of positive self talk and how that can help us do our best for something that seems difficult. We are also encouraging children to write the letters in their names in lower case if we have learned them. You will notice this on their handwriting sheets.
We also learned a new poem to help us spell "November" . The Kindergarteners enjoyed illustrating the words for the poem as well as singing our new poem and old poems by the fireplace.
We spent our math time in the computer lab using Symphony Math. After a mini lesson helping the children learn strategies to solve the problems they are seeing on this program, they worked quite independently as Ms. Dennehy and I checked in with each student.
