We had another fabulous day today! After our morning meeting where children had some great "shares", we read and put the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" into our poetry folders. This poem was used to reinforce the word "and" and also to label the different body parts. The children enjoyed sitting around the "fire" at the end of poetry and singing some of the songs in our poetry folder together.:-)
Ms. Pirelli, the school psychologist/guidance counselor joined our classroom today for Open Circle and led the class in a discussion about using the traffic light when feeling upset or angry. She read the book When Dinosaurs Get Mad and also spoke about comfortable and uncomfortable thoughts.
After introducing the sound of the letter J- Jumping Jumprope- during Phonics the children had a blast creatively writing about a giraffe stuck in a tree! Some chose to bring their stories home, while others have chosen to continue writing. Ask your child about his/her story!
We ended our day today with our Eric Carle project and can't wait to have them displayed in our classroom! The children worked together to make "ladders" and a scene with a child/children climbing a ladder to get the moon as depicted in the Eric Carle book , Papa Please Get The Moon for Me.
We ended our day with a Mystery Reader- Thank you to Greyson's dad, Scott, for joining us to read a book about "Paw Patrol".
