We started our day with Sylva's dad joining us as her Star Reader. Thank you, Scott, for sharing part of your day with us :-)
Today we learned our "December" poem. The tune of this song helps the children remember how to spell the word "December". The Kindergarteners then traced the letters for the December calendar on the back of the poem. We then tried to stay warm around the "fireplace" as we sang this poem and many others.
We started new Literacy Centers this morning, focusing on syllables in a word. This is a very tricky concept as often children confuse syllables with sounds. We will be working on this concept all year long.
During science today, we made paper. Using tissue paper and water, we shook our bottles, poured out the combination onto a screen and are letting it dry overnight. We then recorded what we did in our science journals.
