Today Sam's dad joined us our class as his Star Reader. He read Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel. Thank you for joining us this morning :-).
Ms. Pirelli also came in and read Waiting Is Hard by Mo Willems. We continued our discussion about how waiting can be a small problem and that we need to make sure our reaction to waiting is small. She also showed a video about Cookie Monster waiting for cookies and how he had to show self control.
During poetry, we read "Thumbs in The Thumb Place" and talked about the difference between mittens and gloves. We also introduced the trick word the which we found 5 times in the poem! The children were then challenged to find matching mittens on the back of the page.
Math time was spent in the computer lab as the children used Symphony Math. Some children also worked on Track My Progress which is an assessment tool to help us monitor what skills children have mastered and which still need support.
