Today we attended school meeting where there was a lot of information shared! We learned about the upcoming spelling bee (this is grades 2-5) and also learned about Wayland Cares and the importance of taking care of ourselves. We learned words such as "confidence", and the importance of eating healthy and keeping our bodies healthy.
We learned a new poem about penguins, and also learned the word "are" which we added to our Word Wall. The children then completed a dot to dot then we sat around our fireplace and sang many of our songs and poems.
During science, we started a new unit about "objects that move". We talked about how the strength of our push can determine how quickly or slowly a ball can move. We discussed the terms "push" and "pull" as we discussed how to move a chair and a car with wheels. This was a "cause and effect" activity. We also introduced the term "gravity" as a way the reason that a ball drops to the ground when we drop the ball.
