We started our day by finding a partner based on who had the same number of dots on his/her card. Then, the children greeted each other and told a number story based on their card. Wow! The creativity of their stories was terrific, as was their ability to make stories with a number equation.
Tanner's mom joined us as our Star Reader this morning and read the books Courdory and Green Eggs and Ham- thank you for spending time with us this morning- the class enjoyed having you join us!
I introduced the trick word and as we read our new December poem. The children circled the word and in the poem and also practiced writing their numbers in the December calendar. As is our routine, we then sat around the "fire" and sang our new poem as well as some of our old favorites.
We spent our math time in the computer lab using Symphony Math. We started our time reviewing some of the strategies we can use to solve the different problems presented by this program. After seeing children work hard and complete the tasks which they were asked to , the children then had free choice which included "KidPix", "Tumblebooks" and "Starfall".
