We started our day with a fabulous performance by FoodPlay about healthy food choices. This performance was brought to use by a grant by the Wayland Public Schools Foundation. It was a fabulous fast moving program where we learned about healthy food choices, the different food groups and the amount of sugar in a bottle of soda!!!
We also learned a new poem today about snowflakes falling on the ground! This was a good opportunity to review our trick words and to practice fluent reading. We then sat around the fire and sang many of our songs together.
During science, we asked the question, "what happens when objects collide?". Working in pairs, the Kindergartners worked in pairs to use ramps, blocks, and a plastic container to create slopes . They were then asked to watch how fast the ball moved based on the slope of the ramp and where they placed the ball. Next, the Kindergarteners put a block at the end of the ramp to create a collision. Next time, we will work on making different types of ramps, creating different types of collisions, eventually trying to get a ball into a "pond of water".
