Happy First day of February! The children were excited to see all the fun dates (100's Day, Valentines Day, vacation) coming up in February. We talked about this during morning meeting.
Thank you to Penny's dad for joining us this morning as our Star Reader. He read Princesses Wear Pants- thank you for joining us this morning!
During poetry, we learned a song about the seasons. Each child then had a chance to write down his/her favorite season and to write/draw why that season was a favorite. Ask your child what he/she thought...
During Fundations, we focused on beginning and ending sounds. After using the pocket chart to create and sound out new words, the children completed a sort where they sorted by words that began with "g" and words that ended with "g". For those who needed an extra challenge, the children could then use the words that they sorted to write a sentence.
We spent our math time in the computer lab, continuing to focus on addition and subtraction equations using Symphony math. The Kindergarteners are working hard to explain their thinking as I've told them that this is the most important part of our math learning.
