We started and ended our day today with Mystery Reader! To start our day , Jillian, a Third Grader, came and read to our class. To end our day, Chris Orcutt (Annabel's dad) joined us to read a wordless books where the Kindergartners had the chance to make up the words!! It was a great oppportunity to think about describing words, sentences that matched the picture, and to have some fun!
We also added a new poem to our poetry folders about 3-Dimensional shapes. The Kindergarteners enjoyed sitting by the "fire" as we recited this poem and sang many of our old favorites.
During Reading Workshop, we looked at a list of words ending with "ING" and talked about a reading strategy of covering the "ing" to figure out the "root word" Children were encouraged to use this strategy in their reading. During Writer's Workshop, we worked on our book for David, our Star of The Week. Children wrote at least 2 sentences and were proud to share that they used "ING" in many of their sentences.
