We started the morning by doing an Obstacle Course provided by Mr. O'Connor, as suggested by the Student Council. The Kindergarteners had a blast running through hoops, swinging on the swing, and using scooters. It was a great way to start our day!
We also had RTI where children continue to "get what they need" in small groups. Many groups are focusing on vowel sounds and doing small group learning. Ask your child what he/she did during RTI today.
During Poetry, I shared one of my favorite songs about "Having Something In My Pocket". See if your child remembers what is is! We circled sight words and then the Kindergarteners were asked to make a list of what makes them smile. We also read and sang other poems/songs around the fireplace.
We had math choice today where many of the choices were a review of concepts learned thus far. Children could roll and record double dice, measure things longer/shorter than their pencil , and create number equations as they rolled the dice. Others chose to build and create with legos and straws.
We ended the day with Mr. Jones as our Mystery Reader! The children were very excited to have Mr. Jones read the book "So Few of Me" by Peter Reynolds as a way to end our day.
