Today the Kindergarteners enjoyed learning a new poem today about 3-Dimensional shapes. They were amazed at all the sight words that they recognized as they read and sang.
We also read the book Red: A Crayon's Story. In this very powerful story, a blue crayon has a red wrapper and struggles with his true identity and others appreciating him for who he is. We had a very valuable discussion about not judging others by what you see on the outside, but by getting to know our classmates and liking them for who they are inside.
During math today, we reviewed the story of the Three Little Pigs. Then, using gumdrops and toothpicks the children were asked to make a house (using 3-Dimensional shapes) that was strong enough that the wolf could not blow down. After the houses were built, the wolf (AKA my hairdryer) tried to blow the house down! The Kindergarteners learned that a cube is a very solid foundation for a house.
* I have included pictures from yesterday as well as today on today's blog
