Today we focused a lot of our attention on Earth Day. We read the book Recycle by Gail Gibbons and discussed how can help protect our earth. The Kindergarteners then wrote and colored in a picture of the earth which we will display on our writing board. We also tossed a beach ball of the earth around- as each child caught the ball he/she reported if his/her thumbs were on land or water. As predicted, we landed on more water than land!
Andrew's dad joined us as Star Reader today and read a Transformers book. Thank you for spending part of your day with us :-)
We also spent our math time in the computer lab using Symphony Math. As always, we focused on specific problems and talked about ways to solve the problem. We are continuing to encourage the children to explain their thinking as they solve their math problems.
PS- The Kindegarteners loved "playing " with the worms at recess today.. We had them wash their hands very, very well:-)
