We started our morning with Ms. Pirelli. She read us a book called Beatrice Doesn't Want To and helped to lead a discussion about Rock Brain getting us stuck. We talked about the ways that others might feel when we have Rock Brain and ways to defeat Rock Brain.
We also learned a new poem today, which helps us to spell April! On the back of the poem, the Kindergarteners had a chance to trace and write numbers. We then sat around the fire (a perfect day to do that!) and sang this poem as well as many of our favorites.
During math today, the children each received a mystery bag with 3-D shapes! The Kindergarteners first looked at their shapes like an ant (from table view) and then like a bird (from above the table). We talked about many of these shapes (sphere, cone, rectangular prism) looking like the 2-D shapes we've been working with over the past few weeks. The Kindergarteners then did a shape hunt around the classroom.
We ended by reading Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs- perfect for a day like today!
