We started our morning by learning a new poem about trees! The Kindergarteners were asked to label a tree in their poetry folders and then we sang by a quiet "stream" today instead of the fireplace- the children were very excited about this change in "location."
During Writer's Workshop, we talked about slowing down and looked at 2 different author's work and discussed the amount of time it takes to write a book and how "slow and steady wins the race". As the Kindergarteners went to work, I could see the impact of our discussion on the quality of their work. Ask your child what he /she is currently working on during this time!
We had math choice today- many children enjoyed trying to make a boat out of legos that would float! Others played the Bump game that we learned yesterday, while others read the room for pictures of bugs which they had to count! It was a very busy time in Room 1..
We ended the day with a Mystery Reader, Stephanie Galloway, Greyson's mom- Stephanie read a book about a little boy who was learning to surf in Hawaii. With positive self-talk, he learned that he could surf! It was a great way to end the day:-)
