We started our morning by learning a new poem about the month of June. After singing the song and circling the sight words, the Kindergarteners also wrote all the numbers for the days in June. They also chose to write down the important dates in June as shown on our class calendar- wow! that was a lot of work!
During Reader's Workshop, we continued to work on our plays. The group who is in the play The Bremmen Town Musicians had their first chance to read their lines and to know their parts. Ask your child what play he/she is reading with their group.
After reading the book I Knew You Could, the children wrote about their biggest accomplishment this year. The answers varied tremendously and the Kindergarteners were very motivated to write and share. They also enjoyed looking at the first piece of writing that they did in Kindergarten and truly seem to undersatand how much they have grown, both academically, and socially.
We completed the math stations we started earlier this week. The Kindergartners were challenged to read number stories and to represent the amounts in two different ways. They also reviewed shapes and subtraction by playing the different games.
To end our day, Ms Germaine, a First Grade teacher at Loker, came in as a Mystery Reader. She read the book Pete the Cat.. Thank you for sharing part of your day with us, Ms. Germaine!
