We had our first school meeting today! The Kindergarteners did just what was expected as they learned about our Loker school rules and watched a 5th grade PRIDE skit about expected behavior at recess. We then celebrated the September birthday and sang the Loker School song which the Kindergarteners will begin to learn at music.
Ms. Pirelli, our school guidance counselor and psychologist joined us today and read Have You Filled a Bucket Today?. This book teaches us that we will have an invisible bucket and our job is to fill each other's buckets. Because of this book, we have a Loker PRIDE bucket and the students can earn "PRIDE tickets" by showing kindness to others. When the school earns 1000 PRIDE tickets, we have a school wide celebration.
During Reader's Workshop, we read the big book version of Ms. Wishy Washy. We made predictions based on the pictures and did a shared reading of the story.
This afternoon we spent time in the computer lab learning how to use the mouse and how to log off the computer. The Kindergarteners used the website Starfall to practice using the mouse and clicking on specific pictures on the site. Our plan is to help the Kindergartners learn how to log on and use the computer and mouse properly so they can begin using Symphony Math in the computer lab.
