We had a fabulous first day of school! We spent a lot of time getting to know each other's names and getting used to the routines of Kindergarten. We read the book The Kissing Hand and the children colored a page related to this special story about a raccoon's first day of school. The Kindergarteners were very excited to end the day with Choice Time where they could choose to play with the dollhouse, build with legos, use magnatiles, use stickers and crayons, or use zoob toys. Ask your child what activity he/she chose.
Ms. Dennehy and I were so amazed at the ease with which the children transitioned to our classroom. We introduced terms such as "whole body listening" and "doing what' expected" which we be working on the rest of the year. Thank you in advance for all your support. :-)
