The Kindergarteners seemed very happy to be back in school after the long weekend. We shared what we did over the past few days and then wrote about it in our journals. I demonstrated what it means to write a sentence, using our sentence frames from Fundations and challenged the children to try and write a sentence. For some this was a difficult concept, but as we circulated around the room, we could see the "light bulbs" going as this is beginning to make sense to so many!
We also introduced the vowels i-itch-i and u-up-u today and emphasized that every word has a vowel. We will continue talking about this concept as the children learn more and more of the sounds.
After reading Fall Leaves Fall, we had new math stations today. The class was very excited to have i-Pads for Symphony Math during this time! Some children also worked with me as we focused on different ways to show 8, while others continued to play "Make 5 Memory". We will continue these stations later this week.
