Today we reviewed "Whole Body Listening" during Open Circle. As I told a simple story, the children were expected to put a thumbs up when they heard the word "red". The Kindergarteners had a chance to reflect on how listening with their whole bodies can be hard, but to understand why it's important.
After reading , Ms. Dennehy demonstrated how to draw our faces for our October self-portrait. Using mirrors, the children took this task very seriously, and with their new strategies learned, felt successful with their portraits. These will be hanging up in our classroom for all to see!
We continued with our Math Stations today- thank you to Saanchi's mom for joining us during this time. You can help reinforce math concepts learned this week by asking your child to count pile of objects less than 10. We talked about touching and then moving objects as we count or lining up the objects first. This way, our counting is organized and we are less likely to miscount.
After choice time, we ended our day with Renzo's mom, Andrea, joining us as our Mystery Reader. She read . . Thank you for spending some of your afternoon with us!
