Happy Halloween! The Kindergarteners who chose to dress up today looked fabulous and I was so impressed with their ability to still attend to and follow all the rules of our class. We made slime today in a pumpkin where each child had a chance to add an ingredient (glue, contact solution, baking soda, and food coloring) and to stir. The best part was seeing our slime at the end! Children could choose to play with the slime during our choice time.
We also had Open Circle today where we discussed annoying behavior. When something is not a Double D, it is annoying. We practiced using the words "I don't like it when you _________. Please stop". Ms. Dennehy and I and some of the Kindergarteners performed in several skits to show how to properly use this language. We encouraged the children to think before telling a teacher based on if the behavior is a Double D or just annoying.
I also let the Kindergarteners know that tomorrow we will be having a new student in our class! Shree will be joining our class tomorrow and we discussed all the ways we can make her feel most welcome in our classroom.
