We started our morning sharing any facts the Kindergarteners remembered about Martin Luther King, Jr. and any questions they may have. We also read the book A Picture Book of Martin Luther King which emphasized Martin Luther King's important message about everyone being treated equally no matter the color of their skin.
We also started new Literacy Centers today where some children had the chance to use BeeBots with Ms. Dennehy. We will continue our rotations tomorrow, so others will get to use them tomorrow. Bee Bots are little programmable robots that are used on various mats and allow children to give a "code " and move the "bee". We used the BeeBots as a way to review sight words.
We finished our math stations today- thank you to Dianna Maddocks for helping to lead the game station! All the Kindergarteners have now been introduced to writing an addition equation. Tell your child a simple number story and then ask him/her to write an equation for you. Then, reverse roles! This is a great thing to do while waiting or line or even at a a restaurant!
We ended our day with Learning Centers. Some chose to write a letter to Helen Lester, while others either built with Legos, played Quirkle, and made a creation at the Creativity Center. It was another great day... :-)
