tDuring Open Circle today, we reviewed our classroom/Loker rules. I like to do this at least a few times a year to review what's expected and to remind the children that they have agreed to the rules.
We started new Literacy Stations today. We reviewed the trick word "to" which I introduced yesterday. I will be starting to introduce more and more trick words as the year progresses- "trick words" or "sight words" are words that are commonly found in the English language and often need to be memorized because they cannot be sounded out. We will be encouraging the children to look for these words as they read, and will expect them to spell them properly in their writing.
Vivian, our Star of The Week, also had her mystery items. The class had to guess, based on Vivian's clues, the items in her mystery bag. They ended up being vanilla, a vase, and a video. Thank you, Vivian, for the great clues!!
During math, we thought about pizzas. As we continue to talk about more than and less than, the Kindergarteners chose between olives and pepperoni on their pizza and then had to figure if they had more or less olives than pepperoni
We ended our day with Renzo's dad joining us as a Mystery Reader. He read Katy And The Big Snow . Thank you for spending part of your day with us! :-)
