The Kindergarteners were very excited to welcome our new student, Dylan, to our class today. The class enjoyed sharing the routines of our classroom and helping Dylan know what was expected and tip to navigate the classroom. Welcome, Dylan!
We focused on the red light of our traffic light this morning during Open Circle. The first step of the red light is to stop and calm down. We practiced calm breathing and I shared a scenario with the children when calm breathing would be important to solve a problem.
During math, I formally introduced the terms addition and subtraction. As a class, we then acted out stories. As I narrated a story, I asked the children if it was a plus or minus story. Then I asked if it was addition or subtraction. Then, I asked for the answer. Finally, we wrote the euqation.
