Today we discussed using feeling words when writing in our journals. I demonstrated how I might use the word "scared" to share the way my daughter felt when we helped to collect eggs from local chickens! It is important to me that the Kindergarteners know that it's okay to have and to write about feelings other than happy, excited, or even proud!
We also turned over the letter "W" today in our alphabet. W- Washing Washer. We then brainstormed words that begin with W!
We started new math stations today, as we continue to focus on addition and subtraction. Children working with me told and acted out number stories, figuring out if we would use the addition symbol or the subtraction symbol. Others played "Ten-Bean Spill" where they would spill out ten beans, arrange them on a ten frame and then write a corresponding number sentence. Others reviewed the Plus/Minus game that we introcued last week.
