The Kindergarteners were very excited to share about their acts of kindness over the weekend. We talked about the fact that acts of kindness can be done all the time, and how it good it feels to surprise someone with a kind act!
During Writer's Workshop, the children were challenged to write 2 sentences in their journal. Most were able to reach this challenge, using sentence starters such as "I felt...", "My family and I..." or "I was kind when...". The students in our class are doing such a great job using their phonemic knowledge of letters to do their best guess spelling . Way to go, Room 1!
Recess was cold, but fun today. Thank you to all of you for sending in the necessary gear. :-)
During Math Stations today, the children were introduced to many new activities! All were focused on recognition of facts to ten and the addition symbol. Some Kindergarteners also worked with Ms. Dennehy to learn about the subtraction symbol.
We ended the day with Learning Centers- all loved using shaving cream to practice their number writing, while others spent time "making dinner" at Housekeeping. Some children also are working on writing books while others played Chutes and Ladders.
