We started our morning by reviewing our sight words! The children were each given a sight word and then asked to find their matching partner who had the same sight word. We then all read the words together during morning meeting. We also turned over a new letter today-- F- Spinning Fan.
During our new Literacy Centers, the KIndergarteners were very excited to make a spinner that allows them to figure out "today", "tomorrow" and "yesterday". These will be coming home in the next few days. Please encouarge your child to use these spinners to help reinforce days of the week, and the terms yesterday and tomorrow. We also played a beginning sounds game where children also used white boards to write down the words that they picked as they played. Also, KIndergarteners continued to read it, write it, and stamp it, while others worked on Lexia.
We also continued our math stations from yesterday. We will continue these stations tomorrow, as we think about measurement and volume. At home, you can help reinforce the concepts learned in school by asking how many ice cubes might fit in a glass, who is the tallest or shortest person in your family, or a question such as "how many forks and knives do we need at the dinner table?"
We finished our day with Learning Centers. At the Art Center, children were asked to make winter hats for our bulletin board. They used white crayons and water colors to create beautiful designs. We look forward to displaying these soon!
