The Kindergarteners have been enjoying our new activity during our morning meeting. It's called "waddle-e-atcha, waddle-e-atcha"-see if your child can sing it to you! We also shared this morning a tradition or activity we do with our families. This was a good chance for children in the class to practice their oral speaking skills in front of the class.
During Literacy Centers today, many children started new books with their Literacy Center group. We are continuing to use the strategies of "Eagle Eye", "Lips the Fish, " and Skippity the Frog" to figure out words that we don't know. Other centers included using spinners to figure out unknown words with Ms. Dennehy, sorting words that begin or end with the sound "G", and "Read, Write, Stamp" with our sight words.
We continued with our Math Stations today- the children are becoming measurement experts, learning to measure from end to end to get precise measurements. We also are continuing to use rekenreks for accurate counting and comparisons.
We ended our day with Learning Centers. The children continue to enjoy this time of "free choice" where they can choose to play a game (Chutes and Ladders was the choice today), make stained glass stars, make bracelets, build with legos, read independently, or build in the block area.
