We started our day with our morning meeting and had a fabulous time listening and sharing things happening in our lives. Children shared about having difficulty waking up and wanting to stay snuggly in bed to feeling proud that they were able to get on and off a chairlift! I love these "glimpses" into each child's life- it helps me stay connected with each child and then have suggestions and ideas for Writer's Workshop.
We introduced the last 2 letter sounds in our alphabet - V- Vacuuming Vacuum and W- Washing Washer. We then brainstomed words that started with each letter. Ms. Sontag also joined us today to introduce the concept of RTI. This is a time (twice a week) that we will combine with room 2 and then form into small groups working on phonics skills. We used the phrase "everyone gets what they need' because that is the exact goal of RTI . The groups are fluid and will change upon the needs of the students. RTI for Phonics/Reading will happen on Tuesdays and Fridays.
We also finished our math stations today! Thank you to Elyse and Juia's mom, Yasuko, for joining us today! The children are now familiar with the Racing Bears game as well as tile arrangements. During math stations next week, we will start telling our own number stories and continue our work with tile arrangements.
