We started our morning meeting by reviewing our sight words. Children were given a sight word and asked to find a classmate who had the same sight word. Then, they were asked to greet each other and then think of a sentence using their sight word. Ask your child if he/she remembers the sight word from this morning.
During Literacy Centers, the Kindergartners continued to read and stamp out sight words, as well as sorted words by their beginning sounds. They also continued to work with Ms. Dennehy to draw realistic pictures of their families. Their All About Me books will be coming home in the next few days (if they have not come home already..)
During math we finished our stations which focused on measuring. As stated yesterday, our focus in on end to end measurement. Tomorrow, the Kindergarteners will have the chance to measure their friends' shoes! You can practice this skill at home by measuring items in your house (such as the couch, TV, or even a bed) with non-standard measurements such as paperclips, legos, or even toothpicks!
