We had fun starting our day today with the Hokey Pokey during Morning Meeting. Not only was it a good review of the names of our different body parts (hip, elbow, waist), it was also a good way to practice our "left" and "right".
We continued our day with new Literacy rotations, focusing on a new reading strategy of "Skippity the Frog" where readers are encouraged to skip a word if they don't know it when reading, read the rest of the text, and then come back to the word.
We also introduced the new sight word can and brainstormed ways to use the word can in a sentence- by doing this, we learned that the word "can" can have 2 different meanings- a very worthwhile conversation!
We continued our math stations from yesterday. Thank you to Gail Saviano for joining us and helping to lead the game station. At the end of stations, the children shared their observations from using the pan balance. Next week, the children will be asked to use the pan balance in a more structured way.
We ended the day with Learning Centers. Ask you child what he/she did during this time! :-)
