We managed to pack a lot into our shortened day! During Open Circle, we talked about the phrase "Ask 3 Before You Ask Me". I told the Kindergartners that one of my jobs as their teacher is to teach some independence. Therefore, I want to encourage them to ask 3 friends before asking a teacher for tasks /questions which peers might know. We brainstormed what these might be and came up with the following: zipping a jacket, logging into the computer, knowing what's next on the schedule, etc.
During Writer's Workshop, we wrote about what we would do if had $100. The answers varied tremendously! We look forward to hanging these up fro all to see.
We completed our math stations this morning. The Kindergarteners are becoming experts at sums and differences to 10, and using number bonds to frame their thinking. I was very impressed with the children at my station who used number bonds to figure out the missing part for Grab Bag Subtraction.
We ended our day with Nurse McLeod joining us as our Mystery Reader. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to be with us!:-)
