During Morning Meeting today , we played the game "Four Corners" as a way to learn even more about each other and to reinforce the concept of the "group plan". This proved to be a great way to start the day!
The Kindergarteners are very busy during Writer's Workshop. Many are planning their new stories, while some are working on the covers to books they are ready to publish. Today, the children worked in small groups with either me or Ms. Dennehy to focus on the specific skill they needed to work on during this time.
The children have also been so excited to start our new author study of Dr. Seuss. We read The Cat In The Hat yesterday and read the sequel, The Cat In The Hat Came Back. I have invited the children to bring in their own Dr. Seuss favorites. If your child does choose to bring a book in, please have him/her write his/her name inside the book.
We continued our math stations today where the Kindergarteners continued to work hard on number bonds and figuring out the pattern of numbers on a number grid. I am so impressed with the improvement in each child's number sense and ability to create numerous equations!
We finished the day with Learning Centers where children were excited to play and make choices. Many chose to use play dough, build with legos, while others worked in the Creativity Center making books.
