We started our day with a match up of math equations. Our expectation is that by the end of the year Kindergartners can fluently add and subtract within 5. We are also working on telling stories with our addition and subtraction equations. We continued to work on this skill during Math Stations today. Thank you to Vivian's mom for joining us today:-)
During Open Circle, we role played situations where using the traffic light to "stop, think and go" is a helpful tool. We practiced situations such as when a parent/teacher asks you to do something you don't want to do, packing up at the end of the day, and daily transitions.
We continued writing our Writer's Workshop stories. I am continually amazed at how different each story is and the pride each child takes in writing down their thoughts and ideas. Some children are making covers for their stories while others are still working on their story - the great part of Writer' s Workshop is that everyone can work at their own pace and challenge themselves where they need to be challenged.
