The Kindergarteners enjoyed guessing Jack's clues for his Star of The Week mystery bag. It was also a great chance to review the sound of the letter "J"...
We started new Literacy Centers this morning. I worked with my guided reading groups and introduced the reading strategy of "lips the fish"- this strategy reminds you to look at the first letter of a word to figure it out. We often use "lips the fish" along with "eagle eye" to figure out unknown words. During this time, some children also sorted words by their ending sounds and read the room for words they can now read. Another group worked with Ms. Dennehy to identify words with one or two syllables.
We also continued our math stations today. We contine to think about "part, part, whole" as well as teen numbers as "ten and more". We will use many of the stations introduced this week as review stations for next week. We are also getting ready for 100's day tomorrow!! Thank you for sending in your 100's collections. If your child has not yet brought them in, please help him or her collect and count for tomororow! Thank you :-)
