The Kindergarteners were very excited to be back at school today and were even more excited to play in the snow! We started our morning by sharing our feelings about the long weekend and telling one thing that we did. After art, the Kindergarteners had a chance to explore and play in the snow and had a blast!
We continued working on our Writer's Workshop stories and some children are already working on their covers! As children are writing, we are continuing to encourage them to do their best guess spelling as well as to work independently until a teacher comes for help. This can be a challenge, so we have done lots of modeling of what one can do while waiting.
During math today, Greyson's dad came to join us! We had to change our plan and not do our planned math stations because of the snow day yesterday. Instead, we worked on creating a subtraction equation using the song "________ stole the cookies from the cookie jar!" and using cookies to show our work. These were sent home in your child's folder today.
We ended our day by painting our Valentines Day bags for Friday. We will start our day tomorrow morning by painting the other side! The children had a blast painting and being creative during this time- a perfect Kindergarten afternoon. :-)
