We started our day by collectively answering the question "The answer is 5.  What is the equation?"  This led into a discussion about part, part, whole and all the different equations that could be created. During math stations this afternoon, we continued such discussions while trying to answer our classmate's word problems.  We also continued to identify shapes, using terms such as "sides", "parallel", "corner" and "equal".

The Kindergarteners continued to work hard during Writer's Workshop as they plan and write their non-fiction stories. Soon, we will be introducing "How To" stories to help vary the genre of books being written. We hope that your child is sharing with you the books that he /she is writing during class.

We ended the day with Learning Centers. Some children chose to continue working on their marble runs (thank you for the extra supplies), while others worked together at the Creativity Center on books and different creations.  Ask your child what he/she chose to do AND why.

Tomorrow, we will be discussing the phrase "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb" and making new mobiles for our classroom.
