It was fabulous to be back and to hear all that the children have been doing over the past week! During morning meeting, I shared with the children about my experience at jury duty and talked in simple terms about the amazing law system. The Kindergarteners were very interested to hear about my experience.
During Writer's Workshop, we continued working on our stories, using our checklist to make sure that each child was completing the work in an expected way. Ms. Dennehy and I each worked invidually with students as well as with small groups to focus on the meaning of each child's story and to make sure each child had a plan in place.
We started new math stations today! The focus at the lesson station was on circles and hexagons, while children worked with Ms. Dennehy to figure out multiple ways to fill in a big shape with smaller shapes. the Kindergarteners also had a chance to use "shape construction" sticks to make all different types of shapes. As they did this, we asked them to name the shape that was created, how many sides, and how many angles.
