During Morning Meeting today , the Kindergarteners had a chance to respond to our chant "Sharing, Listening, and Caring" and share small things happening at home or things that children are excited about. Some shared about the craziness of this weather, while others shared about upcoming birthdays in their families. We take the time to do this in our Morning Meeting to continue to create and build on our special Room 1 Community.
We read the folk tale It Could Always Be Worse and noticed how, like the folktale we read yesterday, this story also taught an important lesson. See if your child remembers the lesson taught !
During Writer's Workshop, we introduced the option of writing a list. One student decided to make a list about his favorite animals, while others chose to continue writing either their personal "narratives", letters, or how to books.
We completed our math stations today that we started yesterday-- the Kindergarteners were very excited to learn how to play Uno. It was also a good time for us to assess the 3-D shape knowledge of our children and to help them identify and share the attributes of the 3-D shapes we have learned.
We ended the day with Learning Centers. The room was bustling with the sounds of giggles, chatter, and business. Ask your child what he/she did during this time:-)
