During Morning Meeting, we reviewed our trick words by having children partner up by matching trick word. I then asked each pair to create a sentence with their trick word. This was also a great way to go over sentence structure- the word "has" was tricky for many!
The class enjoyed fundations where children picked from a mystery bag and then were asked to segment the item that they picked. For example, if they picked "truck" they had to sound out t-r-u-c-k. We talked about how this activity helps us to stretch out words and spell them as they sound.
During Writer's Workshop, we played matire d' to introduce "How-To" books. Then, we worked together to explain how to make cookies, with picture prompts. Tomorrow, the class will work independently on their own how-to explanation.
We finished our math stations today, continuing to focus on counting accurately and creating number sentences. On Friday, we will use these skills to create ladybugs!
Anothony's sister joined us as our mystery reader- She read The Chinese Seven Sisters- thank you for joining us!
