Today we had a very interactive Fundations time- the children picked objects from my Mystery Bag and then identified their beginning sound and then letter. The Kindergarteners also did their first sorting activity where they cut out and sorted words according to their beginning sound.
During Open Circle, we read my favorite book- Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg. This book introduces the phrase "beautiful oops" as a way to make an accident into an opportunity. We reflected on our "mistake bins" from yesterday and continued to emphasize the importance and opportunities when making a mistake.
During math, we introduced the game "Monster Squeeze" which focuses on more than and less than. In small groups, the children had to think of a number and then give clues to figure out their number. We will continue to play this game during math stations next week.
