We started our morning with a bus evacuation drill. This is a mandated training where the Kindergarteners boarded a school bus and learned about the emergency exits. It ended with the children sliding and jumping (with help) out the back of the bus.
During Open Circle today, we talked about behaviors that are Dangerous or Destructive (Double D's) and this is when it's important to get a teacher. We briefly touched upon the different between telling (this is for a Double D behavior) or tattling (letting a teacher know something to get someone in trouble). There is a note in your child's folder with more information about Double D's.
We continued to talk about sentence structure in Fundations and how words start with a capital letter either at the beginning of a sentence or if the word is a name. We also reviewed syllables and practiced writing the lowercase letters we have learned thus far.
We ended our day by watching an animated video of the story of Rumplestilskin and then thinking about our own names. The children had to connect as many cubes as letters in their names and then write each letter on a circle dot. We then created a graph with our towers of names. On Friday, we will make a graph to take home!
