We got to work early this morning on our fairy houses! The Kindergarteners understood that today was our last official day building so they went to work very enthusiastically. We then did a whole group write as we reflected upon the delicacy of the materials that we used, the planning that was necessary and the fun we had building! You are welcome to check the fairy houses out- they are on the lawn right outside of our classroom (I'm sure your Kindergartener would love to show you!)
We also created Part-Part-Whole spiders today. The children were asked to count 8 legs-some yellow and some red. They then recorded the "parts" that were yellow, the parts that were red, and how many as a whole. We will be displaying our spiders outside of our classroom. Try to be too scared!! :-)
At closing meeting, I reviewed the expectations for share tomorrow and read the names of the children who are sharing tomorrow, making clear that the others will share on Friday. We also went over the rules: The share should be something you made, something from nature, or a story you would like to share. Thank you, again, for your help in helping your child pick an appropriate share if they want to participate.
