Today we learned the sound and how to write 2 new letters during Fundations- n-nut-nnn and M-man-m. We used Mama Echo and Baby Echo to help reinforce the sounds, both with pictures clues and without. The children also practiced writing these letters on white boards as well as on a writing sheet.
During Open Circle we talked about non-verbal signals. I have sent home a letter in your child's folder detailing our discussion. We also continued to use the words "negotiable" and "non-negotiable" when explaining our classroom rules. This language might also be helpful to use at home.
We continued working in our "All About Me" books and each child had the chance to draw a self-portrait after I modeled for the class. We talked about the location of our eyes compared to our ears on our face and focused on the fact that our hair color matches our eyebrows and our eyelashes. We are already seeing such improvement in each child's work!
We also finished reading the book Mr. Tickle this afternoon. The children enjoyed predicting and laughing along as we read about his many adventures. We will continue this author study over the next few weeks.
