We tried a new greeting this morning! The children were asked to pick a card, read the child/teacher's name on the card, and greet that person. We were so impressed with each child's ability to use strategies we have spoken about (specifically, looking at the first and letter letters of a name) to figure out whom to greet. We then shared by using the phrase "Me Too!" when someone shared something that you felt as well.
We had new Literacy Centers this week. During this time, Ms. Dennehy is working with a group of children to specificaly teach them how to draw in a step-by-step manner. She will be showing them how to draw people and then transition to animals and then objects. I worked with children on their All About Me books and showed them where in the classroom they can find color words. Other children worked on a sort, used the i-Pads for Lexia, or read the room to find all the letters in the alphabet.
We ended our day by playing "Go Fish" with dot and numeral cards. This activity helped them to recognize a two, for example, in different arrangments and to match up their cards. This game will be at Math Stations in the following weeks.
