This morning, we played a game using the "traffic light" from Open Circle. We gave hand motions to the 3 parts of the traffic light and the children used these signals. Next week, we will focus on the red light and how to calm down and identify the problem.
During Fundations, we learned how to form capital C and D. We then sat and wrote names and words that start with a capital letter. I am working hard to reinforce the concept that we only use capital letters at the beginning of a sentence or the first letter of someones name.
After reading A Picture Book of Martin Luther KIng , the children worked on an art project where they thought about the way that they look and used skin color, yarn, and googly eyes. They will then attach their thought bubbles with their hopes and dreams for the world to this self portrait.
We finished our day with math and played the Moving Along game where children continued to think about more and less than using teen numbers. For some, writing the teen numbers can be challenging and for others, thinking of the number before can be a challenge. We encouraged the Kindergarteners to use the number line and unifix cubes as tools to complete their work.
